3840 x 2160 pixels is 4K Ultra HD, often shortened to 4K UHD or 2160p. It is the resolution of most 4K televisions and 4K computer monitors, and the frame size of 4K video. It holds four times the pixels of Full HD 1920 x 1080 in the same 16:9 widescreen shape.
Use it for a desktop or TV wallpaper on a 4K display, a still frame to drop into a 4K video edit or a photo shown full screen on a 4K television. Open your pictures, and Download returns files that are exactly 3840 pixels wide and 2160 pixels high.
A 16:9 frame is much wider than a phone photo (4:3 or 3:4) or a camera photo (3:2). The Mode switch decides what happens to the difference.
Crop to fill is where the page starts. The photo is scaled to cover the whole 3840 x 2160 frame and whatever reaches past the edges is cut off. The preview shows the full photo with the part that will be kept lit and the rest dimmed; drag that lit window, or tap where it should sit, to keep a skyline, a subject's face or the brightest part of a sunset. For a wallpaper this is usually right: a screen has no room for empty bars.
Fit inside keeps every pixel of the original and fills the leftover space at the sides or top and bottom with white, black, any colour from the picker, or transparent. A portrait photo on a black background makes a calm TV slide. If a JPG gets a transparent background, it is saved as a PNG so the transparency survives.
Stretch forces the photo to 3840 x 2160 without cutting anything, at the price of its proportions. It suits images that are already close to 16:9, such as a screenshot of a widescreen display.
Many pictures are smaller than 4K: a Full HD screenshot, an older camera photo, an image saved from the web. The page still makes the output exactly 3840 x 2160, so a smaller picture is scaled up to fill it. Resampling uses a Lanczos filter, which keeps edges as clean as scaling allows, but enlarging cannot invent detail that the original never had. For the sharpest 4K result, start from the largest version of the photo you have.
Pick several pictures at once, or add more later with the + tile after the thumbnails. Every picture gets the same size and mode, and each keeps its own crop position; tap a thumbnail to adjust it. With two or more files, Download as offers one ZIP, separate images (on a phone that opens the share sheet), or, in Chrome and Edge on a computer, a folder you choose where the files are written directly.
Formats stay as they were: JPG in, JPG out; PNG in, PNG out; WebP in, WebP out. The menu beside Download converts everything to JPG, PNG or WebP, and the Quality slider sets JPG and WebP quality. Each file is named after the original with -3840x2160 added, so sunset.jpg becomes sunset-3840x2160.jpg. Phone photos are turned the right way up first, and a file that is already 3840 x 2160 in the chosen format is handed back unchanged.
Need another size? The width and height boxes take any numbers, or open a page made for it: 1920x1080 for Full HD, 2560x1440 for QHD monitors, 3440x1440 for ultrawide screens, or 1280x720 for HD. To scale a folder of photos by percentage, try Batch Resize.
For screens and video, yes: 3840 x 2160 is the 4K Ultra HD size used by 4K TVs, monitors and most 4K video. Cinema 4K is slightly wider at 4096 x 2160, but consumer screens and wallpapers use 3840 x 2160.
16:9, exactly the same shape as 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440. A picture cropped for any of them fits the others without another cut, only at a different sharpness.
Yes. A 1080p screen has the same 16:9 shape, so the system scales a 3840 x 2160 wallpaper down without cropping it. If you only need Full HD, the 1920x1080 page makes a smaller file.
No. The photo is opened, resized and saved inside your browser tab, and nothing is sent to any server.
