A 1000x1000 Square for Listings and Shops

1000 x 1000 pixels is a 1:1 square and one of the most common sizes for product listings. On marketplaces such as Amazon, 1000 pixels on the longest side is the figure commonly cited as the minimum for the zoom feature, where a shopper hovers or pinches to look closer. A square of that size meets it on both sides, fits neatly into listing grids and search results, and is still light enough for a page full of products to load fast.

Open one photo or a whole set. The size boxes start at 1000 x 1000 and the preview shows the square as it will be saved. Download gives you a picture exactly 1000 pixels wide and 1000 pixels high, named after the original with -1000x1000 added: lamp.jpg becomes lamp-1000x1000.jpg.

Getting a Product Into the Square

A product photo is usually taller or wider than it is square, and the Mode switch decides how that is handled.

Fit inside is the safe choice for a listing's main picture. The whole product stays visible, centred in the square, and the leftover space is filled with a background. White is the look most marketplaces expect for a main image; black, any colour from the picker and transparent are also on offer. A JPG given a transparent background is saved as a PNG, because JPG cannot store transparency. Fit inside scales the product until it touches two edges of the square, so the item fills as much of the frame as its shape allows.

Crop to fill scales the photo until it covers the whole square and trims what sticks out. Use it for detail shots, lifestyle photos and extra gallery images where filling the frame looks better than a band of background. The preview shows the whole photo with the kept square lit and the rest dimmed; drag the lit square, or tap a spot, to decide what stays. Each photo in a batch keeps its own crop, so pick its thumbnail to set it.

Stretch squeezes the picture to 1000 x 1000 with nothing cut. The product's proportions change, which can mislead a buyer, so it only suits pictures that are close to square already.

Many Listings at Once

Use the + tile after the thumbnails to add more photos; all of them get the same size and mode. With two or more, Download as gives a single ZIP, separate images (the share sheet on a phone) or, in Chrome and Edge on a computer, a folder you pick where every file is written directly.

Each picture keeps its format unless you choose otherwise: JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG, WebP stays WebP. The menu beside Download converts them to JPG, PNG or WebP, and the Quality slider sets JPG and WebP quality. The resizing uses a Lanczos filter, so edges, text on packaging and fine texture stay sharp, and phone photos are turned upright from their EXIF orientation first. A file that is already 1000 x 1000 in the format you picked is handed back unchanged.

Need another size? Type it into the boxes, or open a page made for it: 2048x2048 for a larger store photo, 1200x1200, 1080x1080 for social posts, or 600x600 for thumbnails. To resize by percentage or keep each photo's own shape, use Batch Resize.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 1000x1000 big enough for zoom on marketplaces?

1000 pixels on the longest side is the minimum commonly cited for zoom, and a 1000 x 1000 square meets it. Many sellers go larger for a closer zoom; 2048x2048 is the usual step up. Check your marketplace's current rules, as they change.

How do I resize a product photo to 1000x1000 without cutting it?

Choose Fit inside and keep the background on White. The whole product is placed in the centre of the square and white fills the rest.

Can I turn a small photo into 1000x1000?

Yes, a smaller picture is enlarged to fill the square. Enlarging cannot add detail that the original never had, so if the source is much smaller than 1000 pixels the result will look soft up close.

Are the photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, on your own device. Your product photos are never sent to a server.
