Vintage Effect and Old Photo Filter Online

A vintage effect makes a modern photo look like it came out of an old camera or a family album: faded, warm, a little grainy and softer at the edges. This free vintage filter and old photo maker does it in one tap. Pick a look, drag Strength to taste and download the result at full size. Use it as an old picture effect, an antique photo effect or a nostalgic retro style on any image - portraits, landscapes, street scenes, pets - and nothing is uploaded.

What makes a photo read as old is mostly colour and light, not dark corners. The blacks are lifted into a soft matte fade, the brightest parts roll off gently instead of clipping, the shadows lean teal or green while the highlights turn warm yellow and cream, and the colours lose a little of their punch. Fine film grain and a soft vignette finish it. Every look here is built that way, so the result looks like film rather than a coloured layer on top.

The Vintage Photo Effects

Strength, Grain and Vignette

Strength blends the whole look over your original photo, from 0% (untouched) to 100%. Lower it for a subtle retro effect on faces. Film grain adds fine, even grain, sized to the photo so it looks the same in the download as on screen. Vignette darkens the corners softly, the way an old lens did. Each look sets its own grain and vignette, and you can change both.

Full Resolution, Any Format

The download is made from your original file, not the preview, so a 24 megapixel photo comes back at 24 megapixels. Save as JPG for a small file, PNG for a lossless copy or WebP for both. For a plain black and white or brown tone without the film look, use the Grayscale or Sepia Effect pages; to change only the colour temperature, use Color Temperature.

Nothing is uploaded. The effect runs in your browser on your own device, with no signup and no watermark.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make a photo look vintage or old?

Open the photo, pick a look such as Faded film or Old photo, and set Strength. Grain and a vignette are added for you. Press Download to save the photo at full resolution.

What is an old photo effect?

It copies how old prints look: faded blacks, yellowed or warm highlights, less colour, grain and darker corners. Old photo and Sepia are the strongest versions here; Faded film is the gentler, modern take.

What is the difference between a vintage, retro and film filter?

People use the words for the same thing. Vintage and old photo usually mean faded and warm, retro often means the bright colour of the 70s and 80s (Warm 70s, Retro pastel), and a film filter copies a type of film (Kodak warm, Polaroid, Black and white film, Cross process).

How do I get a 70s photo effect?

Choose Warm 70s. It gives golden highlights, olive greens, a warm light leak and heavier grain. Lower Light leak in More options if you do not want the glow.

Is there a Kodak or Polaroid filter?

Yes. Kodak warm gives the warm, rich colour of consumer film, and Polaroid gives the pale, low-contrast instant-film look. To add the white instant-photo border too, use the Polaroid Frame page.

Can I make the vintage effect weaker?

Yes. Drag Strength down to blend the look with your original, or lower Film grain, Vignette and Fade on their own.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
