The Fisheye Lens Effect, Without the Lens

This fisheye effect generator turns any photo into the round, bulging frame of an ultra wide-angle lens. Load a picture and the effect is applied instantly: the whole image is pulled into a circle, the center swells toward the viewer and the edges wrap away, exactly the look of a peephole, an action camera or a 90s skate video. Two sliders and one switch shape the result in real time, and the download comes out at the original resolution with everything outside the circle transparent, ready to drop onto any background.

Curvature, Zoom and a Circular Frame, Live

The curvature slider sets the strength of the fish eye distortion. At 0% the photo is untouched; low values give the gentle curve of a wide-angle lens, the middle of the range is the classic fisheye lens effect, and 100% wraps the picture into a full sphere where every line away from the center arcs toward the rim. Lines that run through the center stay straight, exactly as they do through real fisheye glass. The zoom slider is the lens's focal length: above 100% it crops in on the center, below 100% it zooms out until the bent edges of your photo come into view, curved like the frame of a real fisheye shot. The circular frame switch turns the result into the round image circle of a circular fisheye, or keeps the full rectangle when you switch it off. Under More options, a vignette slider adds the soft light falloff real lenses show near the rim. Everything previews live while you drag, with a sharp full-quality pass the moment you let go.

A Transparent Circle You Can Put Anywhere

With the circular frame on, the output is the round lens image itself, not a circle stamped on a black rectangle. Downloaded as PNG or WebP, everything outside the circle is transparent with a clean anti-aliased rim, so the fisheye drops cleanly onto posters, thumbnails, album art, stream overlays and stickers. Zoomed out, the space around the bent edges of the photo is transparent too. Choose JPG when you want the traditional look instead, and the surroundings become solid black automatically since JPG has no transparency. Either way the effect is rendered at your photo's full resolution, never from the on-screen preview.

Where the Fisheye Look Works

The fisheye filter has a personality: skate and BMX culture built its visual language around it, album covers and music videos use it for in-your-face portraits, and meme culture rediscovered it for the exaggerated close-up. It also reads as a security peephole or door viewer for storytelling shots, gives pet portraits their comically oversized noses, and turns cityscapes into tiny curved worlds. Because the effect is applied to an ordinary photo after the fact, you can hunt for the frame that works without owning the lens.

Fast, Local, Private

The re-projection runs entirely in your browser: every output pixel is traced back through the lens model to the exact spot of your photo it comes from, with bicubic sampling where the lens magnifies and extra samples where it squeezes the edges, so the center stays sharp and the rim stays smooth without jagged or shimmering detail. The preview stays fluid even on large phone photos. Nothing is uploaded: the picture is read locally, warped on your device and saved straight back to it. Private photos and unpublished work never leave your machine, and there is no signup, watermark or file limit.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Fisheye Effect

How do I add a fisheye effect to a photo?

Open the photo in the fisheye editor above and the effect is applied immediately with sensible defaults. Drag the curvature slider to set how strongly the image bends and the zoom slider to crop in or reveal the bent edges, switch the circular frame on or off, then download. The result renders at the original resolution.

What do the curvature and zoom sliders do?

Curvature bends the image: low values curve it gently like a wide-angle lens, high values wrap it into a sphere, while lines through the center stay straight as on a real lens. Zoom sets the focal length: above 100% it crops in, below 100% it shows more of the bent frame, including the curved edges of the photo itself. The circular frame switch chooses between the round lens image and the full rectangle.

Can I get the fisheye with a transparent background?

Yes, that is the default. PNG and WebP downloads keep everything outside the circle transparent with a soft edge, so the lens drops cleanly onto any design. JPG cannot store transparency, so there the outside becomes black automatically.

Can I make a fisheye pfp with it?

Yes, it works well as a fisheye pfp maker. Keep the circular frame on and the download is a square PNG with transparent corners, ready for the round profile picture slot on Discord, Instagram, TikTok or X. Zoom in a little so your face fills the circle, and the lens gives the classic big-nose close-up.

Is this a real fisheye algorithm?

Yes, the geometry is the real thing, not a bulge formula. Your photo is treated as the flat rectilinear picture it actually is, and every pixel is re-projected through a physical lens model. The curvature slider moves continuously through the projections real lenses are built on: rectilinear at 0%, then stereographic, equidistant and finally equisolid, the projection of most full-frame fisheye lenses, while widening the virtual lens's field of view. The one thing no software can add is scene content beyond your photo's original frame; a physical 180° lens simply sees more of the world.

Is my photo uploaded when I apply the effect?

No. The image is opened and warped entirely in your browser, and the result is saved from your device. Nothing is transmitted to any server, so private photos stay on your machine.
