On a phone, tap the save button on a row to download that file on its own.
This file renamer changes the name of any file right in your browser: documents, spreadsheets, videos, music, archives, photos or code. Choose a file, type the new name and press Download, and the file comes back with the new name and nothing else changed. It is the quick file name change for the moments a download arrived as "document (3).pdf", a scanner saved "scan_0042", or a form will only accept a file named a certain way. The extension stays exactly as it was, so a PDF stays a PDF, a .docx still opens in Word and archive.tar.gz keeps its double extension. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Add several files, or drop a whole folder onto the page, and every file in the list is renamed in one go. Rename by sets how the new names are built: one Name with a counter behind it, a Number sequence from any start (type 001 to get 001, 002, 003), a Date (today's, or each file's own date, which for a camera photo is the day it was taken), Add text before or after the original name, or Find and replace. The list shows every old name next to its new one while you type, and two files that would end up with the same name get -2 or -3 added, so nothing is overwritten. The batch downloads as one ZIP file.
Find and replace is the fastest way to clean up names that a camera, a phone or a download manager chose for you. Type what to look for and what to put in its place, and every match in every name changes at once: IMG_ becomes Paris-, "Copy of " disappears when the replacement is left empty, and a misspelled client name is fixed across a whole project folder. Upper and lower case are treated alike, and only the name is ever touched, never the extension.
Phone file managers often hide the extension, and renaming a batch there means one file at a time. Open this page, tap Select files, pick the files from your downloads or cloud storage and type the new name. With several files, the save button on each row downloads that one file under its new name, so you never have to open a ZIP on a phone.
For pictures, the image renamer shows each photo while you name it and can switch JPG, PNG and WebP on the way out, and Rename PDF is this same list made for PDF documents. The file renamer takes any mix at once, so a folder of invoices, scanned pages, recordings and screenshots can be renamed together with one pattern.
Renaming happens entirely on your device. The files are never uploaded or stored anywhere: the page hands each one back to your browser under its new name, so even a large video is renamed without waiting for an upload, and a confidential contract never leaves your computer.
Select the file, type the new name in the New file name box and press Download or Enter. The file is saved with the new name and its original extension, and its content stays exactly the same.
Yes. Add as many files as you need, or drop a folder, then choose a numbered sequence, a date, added text or find and replace. Every new name is shown before you download, and the whole batch comes back as one ZIP file.
No. Only the name changes. The content and size of the file stay identical, byte for byte, and a photo keeps its camera information.
Any type: PDF, Word and Excel documents, MP4 and MOV videos, MP3 files, ZIP archives, photos, text and code files. The extension is kept, so the renamed file opens in the same program as before.
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
