Discord Colored Text Generator
Colored text for Discord messages: select a word, pick a color, copy the code.
Colored text for Discord messages: select a word, pick a color, copy the code.
Type your message in the dark box, select the words you want to color, then tap a color. The Text color row changes the letters, the Background row puts a color behind them, and Style makes them bold or underlined. Tap the same button again to take it off, or use the eraser button to clear every color and style from the selection. On a phone you do not need to drag selection handles: tap a word so the cursor lands in it, then tap a color, and that word changes.
The box shows your text the way Discord shows a colored code block, in Discord's own colors. Under it is the finished code. Click or tap it once and it is copied, then paste it into any Discord chat, server channel or DM. The count under the code shows how much of Discord's 2,000-character message limit it uses, escape codes included.
Discord has no color button for messages, but it colors text inside a code block marked ansi. Each colored stretch starts with an invisible escape character followed by a code such as [31m: 30 to 37 are the eight text colors, 40 to 47 the eight backgrounds, 1 is bold, 4 is underline and 0 resets everything. The generator writes only the codes that change. Words of the same style are joined into one stretch, and a space between two colored words costs no extra code, so long colored messages stay well under the limit.
Already have a colored message, or a bot's code with \u001b[31m in it? Paste it into the box and its colors come back, ready to change.
The Discord desktop app and Discord in a web browser show the colors. The Discord apps for iPhone and Android do not, so people reading on a phone see the same message without colors. Write it so it still makes sense in plain text.
In August 2026 Discord changed its ANSI palette: the backgrounds now use the same eight colors as the text, and the exact shades follow the reader's theme. The preview uses the dark theme. Black text is hard to read on a dark theme, so pair it with a background color.
Making a profile picture? /discord-pfp-cropper/ fits a photo to the round avatar, and /discord-pfp-viewer/ shows anyone's avatar at full size. For the rest of a message, /discord-timestamp-generator/ writes times that show in each reader's own time zone, /discord-name-converter/ styles a name in fancy letters, and /discord-rules/ helps you write the rules for a server.
Everything happens in your browser: the coloring, the preview and the copy. Nothing you type is uploaded. The last message is remembered in this browser only, so it is still there when you come back, and the bin button clears it for good.
Type your message here, select a word, tap a text or background color, then click the code under the box to copy it. Paste it into Discord and send. The code is a code block marked ansi with color codes inside, which Discord turns into colored text.
The Discord apps for iPhone and Android do not show ANSI colors, so the message appears without them. The colors show in the Discord desktop app and in Discord in a web browser.
Yes. Discord counts the whole message, including the code block marks and every color code. The count under the code shows the total, and the generator writes as few codes as possible.
Yes. Copy the colored message, or the code you made before, and paste it into the box. The text comes back with its colors and you can change them.
No. The page colors and copies your text inside your browser and sends it nowhere. Only this browser remembers your last message, until you clear it.
